For this first issue 2014 from BRIEF, two of the brand new productions of Autour de Minuit are in the spotlight : Havana, directed by Edouard Salier, and The Ringer, directed by Chris Shepherd.
Both selected in competition at the Clermont-Ferrand festival 2014!
“The brilliance and energy of Edouard Salier's new film are such that it barely leaves us time to think.”
“[…] Englishman Chris Shepherd is one of the most inspiring artists of the time. With The Ringer, he is continuing an already very successful work on Silence is Golden, on 2006, and the particular flavor of this new film is above all due to its apparent immersion in the famous English “social cinema”.”

“Hybrid status, both at the artistic and technical level of the films and at the level of their distribution, is undoubtedly the specificity of our productions, but also makes it sometimes difficult to fit into the boxes of the funding system or festival catalogs, and this sometimes makes our approach all the more difficult and perilous.
Our desire for plastic and narrative research and our curiosity for new images nevertheless remain intact.”
The very first issue of BREF, for this new Year, devotes a beautiful article to Autour de Minuit ! Interview by Jacques Kermabon in November 2013.
