ABOUT
Autour de Minuit is a film production company created in 2001 by Nicolas Schmerkin to support projects with innovative forms and impertinent contents, giving pride of place to new technologies and sound creation. Over time, the editorial line opened up to other genres and audiences, such as documentaries, music videos, fiction or animation for kids and families. The company now has a team of eight permanent staff, as well as two studios, in Paris and Angoulême, which can accommodate up to 30 people.
Autour de Minuit also deals since 2004 with world distribution of animation, and digital works, with a catalogue of almost 400 films.
The company also produces or coproduces since 2012 projects for TV, for instance the hybrid series for adults Babioles (Canal+), three TV specials A Town called Panic:: The Christmas Log, back to school and The County Fair (Canal + and France Televisions), the kids series No-No (52×7' for 4-6 year olds, on Piwi + since 2018), of which two TV specials have been produced : Rising Waters in Underwood Springs!! ( released in theaters in France thanks to Cinéma Public Films) and No-No Shrinks!, recently completed. Lately, the company has finished the first season of Jean-Michel Super Caribou (52×11' for 6-8 year olds) available on Okoo and France 5 since February 2020. Autour de Minuit is currently developing new series projects, including Galaxy Camp (52×13' for 8+), presented at the last Cartoon Forum, The Wind Ups (26×3’For teenagers / adults) or Two Little Birds (52×3' for 4-6 year olds).
Autour de Minuit is also increasingly working on features:: the company, which was associate producer of the first Spanish animated feature film for adults Psiconautas directed by Alberto Vazquez (Greenpeace Price at San Sebastian 2015, Goya 2017 for Best Animated Feature), is currently working on the production of Alberto's second feature film, Unicorn Wars. Two other feature projects are in development: The Midnight King (an animated musical with original songs by Patrick Watson) and Shadows (according to the band of Vincent Zabus and Hippolyte published by Dargaud).
